Thank you. As I read scripture I often look for "help" in seeing historical context, as well as applications. It's hard to understand scripture beyond the surface many times! (At least for me!). One also has to be discerning in whose commentary is actually scriptural and not skewed to fit the times as you mentioned in the article. On a side note, it's nice to see you do read and respond to people's comments presently even though you wrote this a while ago. Thank you again for sharing your insights.
Reply from JPN: Thanks! We all need 'help' as you say which is why we are a body! And yeah, I love reading the comments so try to respond to each. Thanks.

Could you please send all of the lessons you have in the mail for me
Reply from JPN: Hi, thanks for your support and interest. We don't have them printed out - just online. And we live on the other side of the world so it isn't practical to mail unfortunately. They can be printed as described in the following Q&A:

2gospels

There are 2 gospels. One given to Jews and the other to gentiles. That’s what the Bible says. Granted the entire Bible is for our learning. Jesus told His disciples to go to Israel only. Even after His death and resurrection the disciples continued to preach the kingdom message. Paul was sent specifically to the gentiles with a new gospel. The gospel of grace. My biblical reference is Matthew 24:14 and 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. There are many more references but time and space are limited.
Reply from JPN: Hi, thanks - I believe there is one gospel with a different emphasis depending on the timing and hearers as written about here:

Elijah at the Cherith Brook
|
I am a female missionary from the USA who was told by God to go to Sierra Leone, a place I knew nothing about except that it was located on the African continent. God had already told me that I would go to Africa long before I was called to Sierra Leone. I have been working in missions here since 2019 and in other places in Africa before then. To make a long story short, I prayed to God to understand the isolation I have been feeling since I arrived here. Today, I came across your blog post about Elijah obeying God and going to Cherith Brook, and now I understand. Thank you!
Reply from JPN: Awesome. May God bless your work there and reward your obedience! And I'm pleased the post about Elijah could help bring some clarity and understanding about your own situation and the ways of God.

But God - Truth that changed Joseph's life
|
Genesis 37:9
“And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the 'ELEVEN STARS" made obeisance to me.” Benjamin wasn't born yet, was he ??? Interesting that Joseph's vision had "11" stars ... Reply from JPN: Hi, we can't be certain on how much younger Benjamin was but most believe he was alive when Joseph told this dream. The 11 stars you referenced is one on the points used for that. Both Jacob and his brothers knew who the 11 stars represented so all 11 brothers would have been alive at that time I believe. Cheers.

The Mystery of the Two Comings
|
Glad i found your website! bookmarked! I enjoyed reading, The Mystery of the Two Comings, i google and google looking for this info as in will the second coming of Jesus be the first for the jews? our family also finished watching the chosen and so we have tons of questions! Grateful to have found y'all. God bless
Reply from JPN: Hi, I wrote that a long time ago but it is a useful study to understand why Jesus comes twice and why the Jews missed His first coming! But they will eventually see it amongst bitter grief and tears and suffering.

Hebrews 6:10 For God is not unrighteous so as to forget your work and labor of love, which ye have shown toward His name, in that ye have ministeredto the saints, and do minister. Reply from JPN: Thanks so much. I love Heb 6:10 so appreciate the reminder about it again! God Bless.

Deity of the messiah from an OT standpoint

I’ve been studying a lot about the Trinity and the deity of the messiah Jesus Christ! Your notes have been very helpful and encouraging! Truly a blessing. Thank you so much!
Reply from JPN: Great, glad it helped - And I should give a shout out to Arnold Fruchtenbaum's book 'Messianic Christology' which helped a lot when I was debating a Jewish man's concerning the deity of the Messiah from the Old Testament (from which some on those related Q&A on my site came).

I appreciate very much the information in your article and I will use the information in teaching an adult Sunday School class. I certainly will give you the credit for the information I teach and again, I am appreciative of the information you have presented.
Reply from JPN: Thanks - yeah I love the pictures God has given in the story of Onesimus. Hope your lesson goes well!

Reply from JPN: Hi, awake to the threat of Islam but don't believe God is pointing at Arab countries or Islam with the colors of the 4 horsemen in Rev 6.

My group is studying the minor prophets. As a teacher leading, I was so excited to read your study. My group is finding it difficult to relate and this will clarify it so much better than I. I am so very appreciative!
Reply from JPN: Nice! Always like to hear that it is helping. Joel 3 especially is very relevant to the current antisemitism in the world. May God bless your group.

Q&A
|
I just read your Q&A “What if our works aren't enough? Will Jesus 'spit' us out of His mouth?” and found it very helpful, which led me to read some other articles on your site. This is the first time I’ve visited your site and feel like I’ve found a treasure. While I’m not convinced the letter to the church at Laodicea was only to non-Christians, your response was encouraging to me. Thank you! I sometimes feel haunted by some of these phrases in the NT that seem to throw doubt on our security in Jesus as believers.
Reply from JPN: Hi, thanks for commenting and I'm pleased that it helped. Keep having a look around! I've written more about Laodicea here as part of the Revelation series if interested:

Jesus is named Jesus Instead of Emmanuel
|
Your explanation is a clear answer to me. I previously understood the ideas of title and nicknames as the reason. But you really is made clear by explaining the Hebrew culture and language from the times in which they were written and also when the messages were given... In how Jesus's name meets the criteria for what He was and will be called. I'm not saying it clearly but I do understand it better now.
Thank you! Hugs and Blessings Debbie H Reply from JPN: Great - pleased it helped. Thanks for letting us know.
