Who are the Holy People of Revelation 7 and 13?

Readers Question / Comment - Who are the Holy People of Revelation 7 and 13?

Hi!

Can you enlighten me with regards to those "holy people" who must endure persecution in the great tribulation like rev 13:7-10, rev 14:12-13, rev 7: 9-14 (...from every nation and tribe and people and language).

Are they the 'lukewarm' gentile Christians? Thanks! If you have any recommended verses for me to read to understand it more clearly, I will appreciate it more :) God bless you and your ministry! Glad I found your website.

Hi,

thanks for the question. They are often refereed to as 'tribulation saints'. They will come to faith after the Rapture in the tribulation period. The tribulation will be a period where no one can sit on the fence anymore. They will be forced to choose - will they believe in Jesus and follow the Lord or will they follow the Antichrist? To believe in the Lord will be very difficult for these 'saints'. Most will be killed for their faith. That is why we see so many from every nation coming out of the Great Tribulation (Rev 7:9,14). We need to remember that the tribulation, especially the second half of it, is a time where God allows the Antichrist to have power over the saints. This was mentioned in Daniel and Revelation:

Daniel 7:25 'He will speak out against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Highest One, and he will intend to make alterations in times and in law; and they will be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time (3 1/2 years).

Revelation 13:7 He was given power to make war against the saints and to conquer them. And he was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation.

The best way to see the saints that come out of the tribulation from every nation in Revelation 7 is to see them as the result of the ministry of the 144,000 Jews mentioned in Revelation 7:1-8.

There is a good commentary online that may help with specific verses from Revelation. I have this book at home and the author, William Newell, is very good.
